Florida Casket Company

About

The structure, originally the Florida Casket Company building, was constructed in 1924. The building will be managed and operated by the Jacksonville History Center. Event and meeting space will occupy the building’s second floor.

The project includes renovation of the three-story brick building and three-story addition to both the west and east building facades. The additions and alterations are necessary to support the mixed-use renovation of the building, which includes a museum, document archival, and venue space.

The building’s adaptive reuse received $2.02 million from City Council in March 2024 and $50,000 in 2020. A City grant agreement was also solidified in 2022 for $500,000. The project received DDRB final approval also in 2022.
